Durham University Orchestral Society is delighted to present the Symphony Orchestra, performing the atmospheric and renowned work, Symphony No.1 ‘Titan’ by Gustav Mahler. Given the nickname, ‘Titan’, by Mahler, after a novel by Jean Paul, this tone poem in the form of a symphony explores nature and the human experience. Depicted through the various programmatic movements, this will take you on a journey through ‘Days of Youth’ leading to the inevitability of death and heaven. This stunning piece will be performed alongside the post-minimalist work ‘Short Ride in a Fast Machine’ by John Adams and will boast an evening of musical splendour.
